I got a Weller cordless one.. supposed to heat up to 900* at the tip but it doesnt seem to be working.. i has the caps too :hs:

did you tin the tip?
also does the tip melt the solder?
finally you may need to charge the battery :chuckles:
if you still have problem, you might need to get some flux.
