Default Time for a new car v.woop

Hello gentlemen and 2 ladies...

I'm going to be 'debt' free in about 1 month (school, car, credit), and i've been rolling in a 95 LS integra for way too long (coming on 10 years), i love the car, and i might just give it to my brother. However, i think i am financially ready for a new(er) car.

my budget: $11k- $13k
my target car - 2004+ BMW 3 series (E46). with under 75k...

I know lots of you (well maybe 5 or 6) own BMW's and more are avid fans. I'd like your advice.

I know nothing past that they look good and they are expensive to maintain (duh)

What do the models stand for ? 316, 320, 328 etc? what about the letters: whats the difference betweetn 318i/Ci/ti ??

What should i look out for when going to the dealer? should i go private?

Thanks fella's, i have high hopes for this thread

ps: thinking of buying the car by Jan-Feb of 2009

Its not like you'd be forced to take it....I'd probably take it for free, I mean, its not a total POS!
