you're wrong. the W124 E class got a facelift in '94, and that's when they changed the designations from "xxxE" to "Exxx." the car in the pic you posted doesnt have the red/clear tailights, chrome strip above the license plate, and fully painted bumper.

i know this because my pops bought one new in '94. it's also stated here:
