All the guitar hero games communicate through the USB system of the PS3. If you were to make it bluetooth, it would lose compatibility with the game.

is that the same hope that kids who play sports game will actually go out and try playing the real game, only to realize that slam dunking a basketball or getting a power serve to stay inside the court takes years of practice and some natural talent/skills?

True, but I remember watching TV basketball was the first thing that made me interested in sports. Didn't stick, unfortunately, but for plenty it might.

That would require specific coding of software in the game to handle the input over bluetooth and accept it as input. It's funny, when GH3 on the PS3 was announced, people said the same thing about the original guitar not being bluetooth. It's the path that they chose for Guitar Hero, so if you want a peripheral to work with their game, you have to go by their rules.

someone dropped the ball. i don't know if was sony or red octane. you've probably already seen this,

When contacted about it, RedOctane spokesperson Bryan Lam said it had developed its own wireless solution so it could launch in time, because currently Bluetooth tools only cater for the Sixaxis controllers.

This was later confirmed by Rock Band developer Harmonix, which stated its first-generation of guitars would not feature Bluetooth. Let's hope a USB wireless dongle-hub is provided so all instruments can be played at the same time, then.

Some observers feel the hold-up is due to Sony not issuing adequate tools to allow third-parties to make use of the Bluetooth connectivity. Others suggest RedOctane and Harmonix looked to develop their own technology because of Sixaxis connection problems in the past.
