Default Need a new PC

Yep it's that time again and I need a new PC.

I looked at Macs but to get one that will do what I need it to do it is going to be far more money than a PC would cost so fuck Mac in the ear with a stale penis.

OK that said what I need is...

Enough power and RAM to operate Image editing software (PS) Audio editing software (Reason), and video editing software without having to reboot every couple hours.

this is not a gaming rig and I do not want to spend more than $1000 on it total because it isn't worth that much to me...sub1k mark is the goal and preferrably biggest bang for buck factor. If I have to buy a comp and upgrade the vid card I am good with that too.

So come on geek squad point me in the direction I need to be in and I would also prefer if the comp was backwards compatible to run XP...I still don't want Vista anywhere near me if I can possibly avoid it.

I'd show you my setup that I did around $1100 at the time, however it runs on Vista 64-bit . On the flip side of the coin, I multitask the shit out of it (I run at least 90+ process at a given time) and it breaks no sweat at all. I still have yet to OC it. But the main components are:

Q6600
8800GT 512mb VGA
750gb HD
4gb DDR2-1066 RAM

It may be a consideration to build my own. If I can streamline Vista to not rape my resources I suppose I can tolerate it. Might be my only real choice regardless.

You can probably build Chris' rig for 800 now? I have the same setup, and if I had built it with the proper components the first time around it'd be at the $800 mark.

Agreed, I completed this build several months ago and I'm sure the price points are real low now

So since it's been a while for me what are some good sites to custom build off of?
