Default 3M Clear Bra

So I asked around and was quoted about 700 to a thousand dollars from a couple different places to get a clear bra for the MDX. I went ahead and pulled the trigger and am going to attempt installing it myself. Here's to hoping I don't butcher it.:beer::beer::beer::beer::beer:

BTW, if I screw it up, it'll only cost me about 115 in wasted money. eBay+Live cashback FTW

there aren't that many compound curves on the mdx right?

compound curves are what makes it a bitch. are you going to do the whole hood or just part of the hood + bumper?

if done right the before/after pics should not look any different, except from extreme angles

one more thing D, some places cut the sheet slightly bigger, this is so you can tuck in the edges, thus no visible edge where dirt and dust can accumulate. looks 100x better than non-tucked.

Good luck.

Is it really that hard to do? You'd think a team of two people could do it properly if they took their time no?

it's a bitch to do because of the sheer size of the sheet. typically the good places use one gigantic sheet for the bumper so you have take time and align everything correctly.

i was helping my friend do his m coupe and it took us 10hrs. we kept having to start over because we'd do one side only to find out it was off on the other side

Jay...trust me...I have seen the process and it is a HUGE bitch to do. The precut sheets are still not cut correctly, and you have to cut the sheet while it is ON the car, and make sure you don't cut through to your paint.

Since you are a baller, I would go with a place to install it...plus I think it carries an install warranty.

Was Drew the $700 place?

Damn. Best of luck then.

Can you peel it off and do it again if it messes up without ruining it?

Is this how you do it Rick?

http://www.modernarmor.com/application-process-1.htm

They mention that they use the 3M product as well.

You have to REALLY wet the surface AND the sticky part of the clear bra, but it is still sticky as all hell. Once you squeegee the water out good luck getting it off and re-using it.
