beats hook you, not the lyrics
lots of backup repetitive vocals
guest emcees who barely touch the mike

murs is about the underground party music, but this loses his sarcastic flows in favor of hooks and guest spots that just weaken what i enjoyed about him in the first place

but i also cant stand most party hip hop so i am overly critical h:

 

if he didn't have the beats that he has on that album, he would have no chance at being played on mtv or the radio. people don't just pay attention to lyrics and decide if they want to play it or not, it has to sound good without paying attention.

 

Yeah the beats hook you, but he is far from unlyrical. He's one of the most intelligent emcees in the game.

 

i don't know if i ever read him saying that murs was unlyrical.
