need some advice v. car situation
My wife got into an accident a couple weeks ago and our car is still considered totaled but is still driveable. We've been dealing with the other party's insurance and have finally been offered enough money to fix the car. However, I've been thinking about it and I'm trying to determine which scenario makes the most sense. They're offering us $2900 to take the car and $2400 if we keep it. I've been thinking about all my options and these are what I've come up with so far:
-take the $2400 and just fix the car
-take the $2400 and put it towards another car; keep the Accord as a "backup"
-try to get the car fixed for less than the $2400 estimate
-take the $2900 and use it as a down payment on an '09 Fit
-take the $2900 and use it as a down payment on another used car
I'm not sure which route to take at this point. I've never had a car payment so that would be an adjustment...

yeah, I drives perfectly fine. The front bumper is just jacked up on the driver's side, as is the front fender and the hood a little bit. All lights still work but the driver's side headlight is aimed about 6 inches too high now. Really it's more of an "eyesore" issue than anything. Plus, if we had another accident the front bumper support wouldn't be there to absorb an impact.

it's my D in a B
Put the $2400 in the bank and drive the accord into the ground. Who cares if it's ugly?
:edit: or take $2400 and sell the accord. I'm sure you can get more than $500 for a running accord.

Take the 2400, part out Accord, sell as is, or find cheap parts(I use http://www.uneedapart.com/ I have bought quite a few things there a lot cheaper than I could find anywhere else. Example, I just bought a headlight for my car, cheapest for used 120, there 60 shipped.)
