I listened to it, and surprisingly, he didn't sound like a complete idiot.


I'm pretty torn on the topic. I'm honestly all for more government regulation (i.e. setting up a structure of rules that prohibit idiocy and taking advantage of people), but I barely trust the government to run its day to day business, much less run major financial institutions on the side.

Private profits, public failure...it's the wave of the future and this sets the precedent.

 

We can always hope congress says fack no. There is some pretty solid bipartisan opposition to the plan right now.

 

Instead of paying out 700b in bailouts, they should just divide that among every 18+ tax payer in the country.

yeah great idea especially considering that is a per person accounting not including single income families which would make the cost multiply. It also doesn't take into account that not every person over 18 actually pays their taxes so compound that in the average.

There are more exceptions that make that average look more like $7k+ per person rather than per household
