Help me choose a motherboard!
So my dad bought this Lenovo 3000 K100 PC about 5 months ago, and the motherboard and TV tuner card had a meltdown already.
He did not buy any kind of extended warranty, so he's pretty much SOL.
I've been trying to find him a replacement, but I've been out of the loop with computer hardware for so long that I don't even know what to look for. I tried looking at lenovo.com for replacement hardware, but there website SUCKS! You can't view a list of parts, everything must be looked up by part number. I tried entering all 3 of the serial numbers on the motherboard, and they don't list anything. They will probably charge more than its worth anyway. Then I tried googling "Intel G33 Express", and several different models came up.
Anyway, whats an affordable, reliable motherboard thats compatible with Core 2 Quad processor, DDR2-667 Ram, decent onboard video & audio, etc? I'd like to find something compatible with all the other hardware from the lenovo.
Hopefully somebody can steer me in the right direction...
Here are the specs of the computer, directly from Lenovo.com

Any LGA775 Motherboard should work (that has to do with the processor). I'm partial to EVGA but that's just me because I've had a good experience with them (currently using an EVGA 750i motherboard for my Q6600 quad core). I'm not sure this has onboard video though so good luck with that.
This is what throws us off about the warranty though, on the support website the status says "In Warranty", but the expiration date is listed as 9-14-2008  Hopefully they will clear that up whenever I can get a support rep on the phone.
I just read through the warranty statement, you are correct. 1 year.
I agree, but my dad is the type that would pay for something rather than piece a computer together himself to save money. Typical government employee mentality.
He did not call. I just sat on hold for an hour waiting to speak to somebody, finally got the option to leave a voice mail and have my call returned.
Discontinued, thanks though.

I'll look into EVGA, thanks for the info.
Personally, I would stay away from onboard video as well but he does not play games or do anything graphics intensive other than watch TV and movies so I figured it would be cheaper.

I know it's all IBM, but the PC says Lenovo on it so for the sake of being clear about the specific model, I stated Lenovo.
Thanks for the reply's everybody!

no I was stipulating that whomever said that IBM actually sucks is mistaken because Lenovo isn't IBM. Lenovo took over personal computing from IBM. IBM doesn't make the product anymore Lenovo does. They were allowed to use the Thinkpad moniker, and use the IBM name for a limited time.

So IBM is done making PC's & laptops all together?
