Come on man are you serious?
gas stations don't decide their own prices ... not if they wanna keep a brand on their walls and keeping buying from the supplier

they are told at what price to sell ... what they bought it at is generally irregardless

if they bought at 3.09 and tommorow they were told to sell at 2.99 ... they would sell at 2.99. thats why in the same day you may see the price go up twice or see daily increases over a week period ... thats kinda how they offset the losses, they keep up with current prices

You are wrong...horribly wrong. In fact most if not all gas stations make little profit on actual fuel sales and make it up with the store side of sales

ummm did you see anywhere i said they make good profit?

thanks john but did the gas station job for almost 2 years ... and owner was a good friend

i saw the daily faxes and handled the daily calls alot of times from our supplier. they call tell us what prices are and we go change the sign. sometimes more than once a day. if we wanted to keep the BP on our building we sold at what they told us

i know what we made in profit on fuel, i saw the bills regularly from the supplier.

they also do adjustments on price paid. i also have a good friends dad who has been selling gas for 15years. they never sell at a loss.

yea my point was is they arent the ones who put the price up there. that was dictated by our supplier and if we wanted to keep buying from them / have BP on the wall we had no choice to use their price

this made it sound like you did sell at a loss, which was what john was point out.

no i was simply pointing out where he made the comment about selling at a different price than what the fuel in the tank was purchased at.

they sell off what the supplier says, not what it cost them for the last delivery.
