Default Seatbelt Laws. Yay or Nay

Seatbelt laws, Massachusetts created the click it or ticket campaign that is sweeping the nation. when i drive around i notice about 1/3 of the people driving do not wear seatbelts.

I have a problem with this law. its like california banning transitive fats. who is the government to tell me how to live my life. seat belts save lives but its my freedom of choice to wear one or not.

New hampshire if you are 18+ you have option of wearing one.

under 18 ... mandatory, buckle your kids up

over 18 it should be free choice ... i rarely wear mine, usually only if im on the freeway. its mandatory in MI but i've only had a cop say something once and thats cuz he walked up to my window at a stoplight h:

my pops refuses to wear one, mainly because he was in a accident one time and he wasnt wearing his seatbelt but had he been he would have died, even the cops told him that ... poor logic maybe but its his belief now

I think it should be a law and I also think it should be a law for motorcyclists to wear a helmet. I'm sure millions of people disagree with me, but I see it this way: If you hit someone (your fault) and they die because they weren't wearing a seatbelt or helmet, you're effed.

in canada its click it or a ticket.. mainly if you get into an accident and you get hurt because you arent wearing yourseat belt.. your hospital bill is payed by other people's tax money..

so seat belt law = reduce injuries in accidents = reduce $pending on hospital

not true necessarily

just because someone dies in an accident and the accident places you at fault doesnt mean you are automatically charged with vehicular manslaughter or what have you

I buckle up on instinct, so I really couldn't care which way the law goes.
It's mandatory in CA, but like most of these nannying laws, it's all about the ticket revenue.

That said, I've seen wrecks where people were ejected from the car right into a tree or an oncoming car.
If people want to die that way, then that's their choice. :hsughr:
