Do you think Heath Ledgers death
the reason for the success of The Dark Night? If Heath were alive today would TDN box office be this high? $500 Million in the US and $920 Million world wide...
I think must went to see it just because of Heath Ledgers death....

un-Touch'd krew
I think it may have helped hype it up considerably but the success is based off the fact that his acting in it was far above the ranks of anything else that has shown this summer for quality.

I don't think Heath Ledgers death had much to do with the success. It was successful because it was a excellent movie that was very highly reviewed which means it will have a big word or mouth and people talking about. The new Batman movie was highly anticipated because the last one did really well and took the franchise in a new direction and most said The Dark Night was much better then the previous Batman. I think Heath Ledgers excellent portrayal of the Joker and high praise for it helped very much but I doubt people just went to go so it because he died before the movie came out. I don't see the reason of just wanting to go see a movie because one of the stars died, it has no effect on me and I never really paid attention to Heath Ledger or really saw any of his movies before his death but he was brilliant in The Dark Night and the movie was one of the best I have seen in a long time.

I think the producers killed Heath to boost sales. :uhhok:
Nope. The movie was spectacular in its own right. May have helped a bit. But the movie would have done well regardless.

How he died, I think, was the hype.
In Hollywood, a lot of actors get shitty before certain scenes. Hollywood knows he was lit playing the Joker. Pachino, Gary Oldman, and others do the same shit.
