Default I want to join the Bimmer krew

I'm going to go look at an '87 325i tomorrow and possible a '90 4dr, too. I definately have more love for the red 2dr because it's a stick, tinted windows, and has 2 doors but it's more expensive. I've seen it in person and it does look really nice. The '90 has an airbag more miles, but is newer and cheaper Anyone got any words of advice when I go test drive it?

Your title is incorrect if this truly is your plan

if you're refering to bimmer v. beamer(beemer), Bimmer refers to cars

Out of those two I'd pick the 87, but why not try to find something mid 90's like an e36 body 328 or M3?

I don't want or have the money to spend much more than $2500. If it has more than 2 wheels, i no care.

if you get a chance to look under the car, check out the steering rack. see if it's covered in oil and grease. there is an oil pressure check valve that goes bad, it's a common failure with the m20 engine. also check the steering wheel for play, the steering should be very direct with no slack in the wheel when you turn it. if you can seesaw the wheels more than 1/2 and inch then the tie rods are worn out and need to be replaced.

also the 87 325is has lsd where as the 90 does not.
