Waste of money. I worked at my dad's body shop for 5 years and about 80% of the cars that were hit by deer had deer whistles on them...so they clearly don't work

Interesting.

I've got no experience with them, but in theory it should help a little... maybe. They do have to be mounted correctly, but assuming the people who used them weren't too stupid to read the directions (or have cars with unusually shapely front ends) I suppose that's reason enough for me not to even bother... maybe I'll give them to someone as a gift :badperson:

My jeep came equipped with deer whistles and those bitches run when I'm going down the road to my shop early morning.

Deer Whistles:

http://www.ibmwr.org/prodreview/deerwsle.html

Interestingly, in the course of his research Lawhern tested the whistles in the presence of seven species of the deer family, including 45 white-tailed deer. Possible responses he looked for included ears or head turning, flinching, or looking in the direction of the sound. Out of all these animals, however, only one response was noted, this from a single bull elk. At the shrill sound of the lower pitched whistle (audible to human ears) he charged the enclosing fence, in the process breaking a 2X4 post. In prolonged rage, he then bugled and urinated.
Yeah... I don't want a bull charging and peeing anywhere near my car.

Don't turn left...

And it's really another case of the deer hitting the car not the car hitting the deer...
I was driving behind someone and the deer hit him in the rear fender...It just jumped into him as it was running out of the brush.
