True. Usually though those bands are considered to to be Metal, and have at one point in time released nearly entirely Metal material.

There's few that have moved from metalcore into metal, and fewer from hardcore into metalcore into metal. It's just a transient effect where bands seem to always include previous elements.

I will make exceptions for technical metalcore, just because of the complexity. Between the buried and me for instance has moved past metalcore into more of a progressive nature, and the punk far removed if not completely absent
