I think as long as you are letting her speak and share...and you do your part to actively listen...its fine to share your stories too. And if she is asking you...then why not. I just thought you end up dismissing her stories by sharing your "oh it happened to me too" stories.

I find myself doing this sometimes too... once I actually notice it (usually after I've done it a few times in one conversation), I'll try to cut it out for a while. I definitely see how it could be annoying on the other end.
