Default need some help computer guru's

out of nowhere both my cd drives stop reading...I keep getting a code 39 error "the driver may be corrupted or missing".....I uninstalled them..more than once...I know they work they are both lighting up......so I researched some and I did install itunes a couple of days ago and some forums said that could be the problem....so I uninstalled it and deleted the registries (upperfilter/lowerfilter)....and now I am stumped...anyone have any ideas?...its really pissing me off

thanks

http://www.uninstalltips.com/16/

Then run this program

http://stevengould.org/downloads/cleanup/CleanUp452.exe

then reboot

then uninstall both cdroms, shut down, plug ide, reboot twice, shut down, replug ide cable

To boot to the XP cd, sometimes you ahve to press an F key to tell it where to boot. check when it first comes on and it will tell you to press F something for boot options or the likes

if you do that, you can go into the setup, press enter, press f8 to accept the agreement and it SHOULD give you an option to press R to do a repair install. this is not the same as the recovery console so if it goes directly to that option, do not proceed further. if you do R for "Repair Installation" it will overwrite your windows install but all your files, settings, etc will remain in tact.
