Yeah, you don't want to wash a non-washable hose. You will end up breathing in rust. That is probably what you were getting in your mouth (or maybe chunks of leather) since the shisha would be filtered by the water.
Even with a washable hose, you really only need to wash it out with water maybe every 15 times you use it. For cleanup just make sure you blow all smoke out of it before you put it away.
I haven't heard much about the cobra hose's draw. You should search for some reviews on them.
The two hoses people rave about are the Razans and the Nammors. I think these two brands might come from the same manufacture and then just get branded differently. They look very similar.

I like the draw of the cobra hose. Its the only one I have ever used other than my own. I'm going to go to a hookah bar in a few weeks so I can try others.
What flavors of shisha do you like? My girlfriend got me a chocolate mint as well as a tropical and a bahi rama one. I loved them all. I need to look up the brand. Best I have ever tasted and it gets you buzzed like no other.

I tried Starbuzz Blue Mist before and it was AWESOME! Starbuzz is a little on the pricey side though.
When I just bought from chronichookah, I got their buy 10 get 10 free of Al Fakher. I got a lot of different flavors to mess around with.

Yeah I haven't tried mixing much. I really just have those three then a few shitty stuff. Cherry coke, spearmint(Which I love the mint ones), and a couple others. They just don't taste different. It might be my hookah sucking at smoking but I dunno.
