Default Computer question. v RAM

Ok...so my desktop computer (running Vista 32-bit) has 1gb of DDR2 SDRAM,667MHZ- 2X512MB and my MoBo has 2 more empty slots.

My questions:
Can I put DDR2 SDRAM 800MHz in?
If so, Can I put 2gb of the 800MHz ram in with the 667MHz to make 3gb or does it ALL have to be 800Mhz?
4gb is pointless with 32-bit vista right?

Yes, but the 800MHz will run at the 667MHz speed. If you're getting 800 it might be better to ditch the 667 altogether and run just 2 gigs of 800 rather than 3 gigs running at 667.

edit: I've experimented with benchmarks comparing 2 gigs of ram to 4 gigs and there is a noticable difference between the two. It's not going to be a huge difference but with memory so cheap it's not a bad idea to go with 4.

I don't think vista 32-bit can recognize 4gb. I think it has a 3gb max.

So with that, would it be better to run 2gb 800, or 3gb 667?

Limit is 4 gigs, you'll only see around 3 though...

Way it was explained to me is that 32-bit Windows Vista/XP will allocate it to certain areas you can't see during normal operations, like for hardware- because like running windows 3 on 32 megs, it's just more than it will need.

What's your FSB?

:edit:
okay, so looking into it more I realize that it's just the standard problem of addressing. depending on devices everything needs it's own unique address

So in short, putting in 4GB would secure that you're using the maximum possible ram, but depending on your system it might only have addresses left for 3 to 3.5GB of memory- the other memory just sits dormant because the rest of the addresses are used up by your I/O or other peripherals

I don't think I know my FSB...maybe 667?

Here is all the info I have (I am at work and not at home where the computer resides)
1 222-5668 Dimension E521,Athlon 64 X2 3800+ (2.00GHz, 512Kx2)
1 311-6586 1GB DDR2 SDRAM,667MHZ- 2X512MB
1 320-5088 256MB nVidia GeForce 7300LE TurboCache $0.00
1 341-3256 80GB SATA II Hard Drive (7200RPM)

With that processor the 800 will be quicker depending on latency- question arises whether or not you'd need the extra 1GB or not

It is for myself and my boss (we both have the same computer).

I run photo programs (CS3, Lightroom), watch videos, transfer files, burn DVD's (Does RAM help with that?).

There is 2gb at Fry's for CHEAP! ($20 for 2gb after rebate)

What company's should be avoided with RAM?
I was on Fry's website and they have the desktop memory SO confusing like...the have:
DDR PC2100
DDR PC2700
DDR PC3200
DDR PC3500
DDR PC3700
DDR PC4000
DDR PC4200
DDR PC4400
DDR2 PC4200
EDO Simms
Rambus PC1066
Rambus PC800
SDRAM PC100
SDRAM PC133

Fry's listing is a joke. They don't even list it right.

Go to newegg or zipzoomfly. They have good deal on memories

You want DDR2-800 aka PC2-6400.
