Default PC peeps...your opinion?

So, my desktop took a shit yesterday. I was just posting on here as usual, and it abruptly just turned off and won't power back on...pushing the power button does absolutely nothing.
For the past month or so, I've been noticing that it hasn't been running as fast (DVDs take quite a bit longer to rip than they use to, running two programs at once slows it down quite a bit, that sort of thing).
So I'm thinking PSU (which would be shitty since I have a $200+ PC Power and Cooling one), or possibly a mobo problem (Asus P5B-Plus).
:dunno:

how old is the PS? I'm sure they have a good warranty. time to call tech support.

looks like a 5 year warranty.. at least 5 years. some have 7.

hope this goes well.

would a bad PSU cause my comp to run slower for a while, though? Or might there be some other problem? the problems started about the same time my external HD died.

i would say it's possible. bad power supply will negatively affect all aspects of the PC. read through the FAQ see if there is an article on how to test the PS yourself with a multimeter or something.

I think it is related. Get the power problem solved and then address the secondary issue.
