My Dad has an IS 250 with Navi. Someone at his work also has one, and is the tech guy, who hooks my Dad up with all the shiz.. Anyway, my point, the guy disabled it by hitting a series of buttons/spots on the screen, not sure how and it seems a little back door but its possible.

My Lexus has it, it will only let you search if you arent moving. There is a hack tho, on mine (LS430) its Menu>DVD>top left>bottom left>top left>bottom left>bottom right (hold 2 sec)

in service menu, push "disable"
