Woman: Fruit Damaged Breast

LAS CRUCES — A woman staying at a Las Cruces hotel last week told police that recent plastic surgery on her breasts was damaged when her chest was struck by a plastic apple thrown by someone in the hotel's swimming pool.
The woman, who provided a Sierra County address, said she left the pool after she was struck about 8 p.m. June 24 and found that “her right breast was sinking down and to the left,” according to a Las Cruces police incident report.
Firefighters and ambulance personnel were summoned to La Quinta Inn on Avenida de Mesilla, where the incident occurred. The woman declined a trip to the hospital because a plastic surgeon would not be there, the police report states.
A female police photographer took photos of the woman's injury, and a plastic apple was taken into evidence, according to police.
According to the woman who said she was hit by the plastic apple, the incident occurred while she was in the hotel pool with about a dozen other people, including several children. Members of a group of about 10 people were throwing plastic fruit taken from inside the hotel, the police report states, when the woman yelled across the pool to them: “I don't care what you do. I just can't get hit.''
That's when she said she was hit. The woman told a police officer that she had undergone breast augmentation surgery about a month before and getting struck by the apple had affected the surgical results.
The woman told police she did not see who actually threw the plastic apple at her and she was unable to describe the subjects she thought had thrown the fruit.
No one was arrested.
The woman could not be reached for comment Monday. She provided police with an address in Truth or Consequences, but the Sierra County Assessor's Office said the street address does not exist. There also was no telephone listing for her.
