Default XScarAudio's bike project thread

Ok, I decided to make a thread with the progress of my motorcycle project.

Background - 83 Honda Magna V45 (VF750C) - 4 cyl cruiser. Purchased for $100 as a 'basket case' that was about 70% torn down and had been sitting for years, but supposedly ran before the start of the tear down.

Pics f/ day 1 (same as i posted before):

Update 6/18/08:

After much much much fighting i got the subframe member off the bike, the remaining pieces (except the swing arm) stripped off the frame, got the carbs removed f/ the motor and pulled the motor f/ the frame itself.

In addition, the tank has been painted. I'm gonna wet sand it again and hit w/ another coat or 2. The tins are gonna be flat black and the frame will be a crinkle flat black color.

Next steps are to prep and paint the frame. I think this week I might get the frame back to rolling chassis for ease of movement for paint and mask the areas appropriately. Along side that, carb rebuild, cutting wheel to the fenders and clean the fawk outta the engine. Also, i believe i'm gonna have to cut the exhaust off in pieces...it's headers are disconnected, but I can't separate one header f/ the collector. They'll need to be replaced anyway.

Been a while. Time for an update.

As of now, i'm in the re-assembly phase. Motor is back in the bike. It turns over using the starter and power f/ a car battery. Frame was prepped and painted flat black. Unfortunately it was rusted worse than I thought so it took much rustproof primer, prepping and re-painting. Tank, rear fender, headlight, triple trees are flat black. I haven't gotten all the rust spots off the forks yet or gone nuts on the wheels. Valve covers have been cleaned up and polished pretty well. Just gotta get the rear wheel on tonight and roll out to the driveway so I can give the motor a good wash.

This week I'm starting on the carbs.
