Default vista crew: slow network file transfer

im running vista ultimate x64 sp1 on one machine, wireless

xp sp3 on another, wireless

when i try to transfer files back and forth between the two i get around 700kbps. i googled for an answer but all i could come up with is the slow file transfer pre sp1 on vista. so sp1 already fixed said problem.

i think its something to do with vista communicating with xp. when i ran vista on both machines it was transferring files just fine. the only reason im running xp on the other machine is because it used to be wired to the router but i moved it so i had to go wireless and the wireless card wasn't vista compatible :0

I've never had problems with file transfer speeds. But I would imagine if either OS doesn't have the updated SPs there would be conflict issues. Sharing files on the other hands, was much more tedious that I thought. Nice to see how make manually configure the folder permissions a la Pro

only issue I know of is the one you found. How big are the files that you are transfering?
