Why suspend him for it? If the school doesn't want him to bring it to school they should have just taken it away for the day. Then given it back and asked him to not bring it again. The kid did nothing wrong.

With that, I've never thought anyone could be as fucking ignorant as you. It's a fucking inanimate piece of metal. They have a "no weapons policy." Last time I checked, a spent brass casing is not a weapon.
