I don't really see much point in going with a Blackberry if you're not going to hook it up to an email account. Push email is the Blackberry killer app.

Would you sync the PIM functions (contacts, calendar, etc) with a PC or is that not important?

not overly important but if it is an option, I would use it.

werd. I have a treo 680, and just don't use the data. fuck that shit, i have internet at home that I already pay for.

I just use it for all my scheduling, and it's real slick. I'd check out the Treos... i love the palm OS. way better / more stable than WM and I just plain don't like blackberry. I don't like the OS, and the lack of a touchscreen.

thats pretty much my thought.... i have the internet at home and at work and i dont really get that much email....

ive always liked the treos and the palm software is nice, plenty of applications are available that i would be interested in too.... and the touchscreen would be nice... the biggest appeal of the pearl is the size and the price.... not much else out there for $100

also in the back of my mind, im telling myself there is nothing wrong with my phone, maybe i should just keep using it... i like it well enough and it serves my needs. :dunno: we'll see....

yeah. the only internet i'll use on my phone is wifi. everywhere I go is wifi. I don't see the need to have a full data plan with all those internets flying around.

I paid $80 for my 680 (contract renewal) in january. They are a little hefty, but that doesn't matter to me. i don't grease myself up and slide into leather pants. the size has never been an issue.

There's also huge support for palm OS. there are a ton of freeware programs available. I have one that is a remote control for my TV

i've been thinking about picking up a slvr or something really tiny and cheap to supplement the 680... like when i'm out boating, camping/whatever and still need to be reachable, but without the worry of damaging the 680. i could just swap a sim card and be good to go.

a good way to get a cheap phone is to get a prepaid. AT&T and T-mo have great deals on them pretty frequently... like $20 or so. You can just put your existing SIM into it and be good to go.

not in syracuse.

everybody has verizon, it has the best coverage and the cost of switching (cuz id actually use minutes) would totally negate any benefits that i would get from having a sim card or cooler phones
