Default when getting estimates on damages done to a vehicle...

is there good reason to expect huge differences between each place you take the car to?

reason i ask is cuz some retarded kid ran into the passenger door of my TL. my younger brother was using the car at the time cuz my mom had the accord. it was at his school's parking lot so he didnt think to call the cops. they exchanged info and the kids dad asked if we could try to settle it w/o insurance getting involved

i got the estimate today. parts was about $250 but labor + paint supplies was $1.1k

got off the phone w/ the dad and he thinks im insane along w/ the place that provided the estimate. the place i took it to came recommended from the nearest Acura dealer

anyway, he wants me to get a second opinion. im going to just b/c im a nice guy. question is should i expect there to be a big difference? i personally highly doubt it. was curious what your experiences might be like

My last incident, I took my car to 5 different places. It ranged from $300-$800 to fix my passenger front fender. Average estimate was about $450. :dunno:

I'm glad nothing happened to mine at my high school back in the day.

Buncha morons ran into parked cars like whoa. One time our parking lot guard guy blacked out or fainted while driving around in the lot and hit like 5 cars.

labor charges vary, but not by much.

parts prices vary....depending on whether its OEM or OEM replacement.

yeah i told him not to try to get any "lenient sympathy" from me b/c this is my car and i want it repaired w/o cutting any corners. i explained to him that i dont want this to turn into a mess and i am going to make sure i dont get stiffed aka go w/ filing w/ insurance or more if he starts acting sketch

just make him pay for the deductible and file a hit-and-run claim.

not that I condone insurance fraud or anything of the sort :rick:
