I'm normally against cops abusing their powers, like when they speed faster than traffic or blow through stop signs/stop lights, just because they don't want to wait to get where they're going. If they "need" to be somewhere, then they should have their lights on.
I'm kind of on the fence with this though, as they do need to be able to get back to their cruiser quickly in case they get a call.
