i feel like i don't want to work in an office. and i don't want to have to take a ton of classes before i can do it.

i kind of want to be a camera operator for a tv network, like discovery or something. i think that'd be really cool.

You have to go to film school for that. Basically you learn to become a director and then when you enter the world you start out as a production assistant (basically a slave to the crew/director), then sound, then camera area.

It's a time consuming and class consuming career for not a lot of pay. For the most part a typical Hollywood shot is about 4 camera operators.

 

i'd assume you'd either need experience or a degree in communications/journalism for something like that. otherwise, you get into a station as a gopher and work your way up

 

before u change ur career, u need to first find out what u want to do.
