Default Nextel Help

I have a question about Nextel, It may sound confusing and it's not something I can call the company about.

My friend lost his Nextel phone, thought he did anyway. Reported it to Nextel, they sent him another one for mad cheap cause it was "stolen"....2 days later he found it in his car, but the new one was already on the way. He wants to give the old phone to his brother. Nextel deactivated the old SIM card or whatever in his old phone, so he cant use it.

My question is...if his brother puts his SIM card for HIS number into the others old phone that is suppose to be reported as lost....will Nextel know someone is using the phone?? Can they track that?

very positive. all phones come with a esn number the esn number tells the company what phone is use. in most case's when the esn is "burned" stolen, lost ect. the phone wont work even with a different sim card.

Ehhh i guess nextel is that way. Once or twice a year i'll report my phone stolen so i can get a new one, then i give the other one away to a friend or sell it on ebay. My friends been able to use it with no problem. Lost is one thing, stolen is another. I know stolen you probably wouldn't be able to buy lost is another thing.

I am not 100% about nextel but as long the phone has a sim card, u can just swap the sim card on the phone and use it. On the GSM network u can just take anyones cellphone and just change the sim card for a new one ($20) or your old sim card and the phone its all urs.
When I had voicestream yrs ago, I remember UPS left a package for someone I didn't like so I open the package took the cellphone out and insert my sim card and bang new phone for free and sold my old one on ebay lol. you can't do this for cdma network.
