Default if you had to buy a new car ...

what would be the most important feature/option/characteristic of the car?

mpg?
safety?
style?
performance?
size?

no poll cuz there are too many options....

i would probably go for something roomy, both for cargo & passenger space. gas is of minimal importance to me cuz im only driving 10 miles a day. safety would be pretty high on my list too.

price/mpg I'd have to drive to decide, but it would be between a fit, versa, yaris, and possible a rabbit.

MPG. I keep hearing that premium may hit $5 this summer.

Looking at getting into a Diesel Passat or older Diesel E class for the next Daily driver.

Assuming this is for a one and only car I'd want equal measures of space-efficiency, reasonable commuting comfort, and fun to driveness.

Depending on how much the budget is I'd look at the Mazdaspeed3, VW GTI 5-door, Honda Civic Si sedan, '09 Mitsubishi Lancer Ralliart, Audi A3, VW R32; Mitsubishi Lancer Evo, Subaru STi, and BMW 135i, 335i or M3.

Or I'd just say screw it and pony up for a 996 C4S. h:
