found the perfect commute car
mini cooper (not S)
I drove a loaner to work today.
the car is roomy enough for my faux mohawk and fat ass
the srs radio is pretty cool (except in tunnels and parking garage)
power (115hp) does 35mpg or 34 in my case cuz of "traffic"
The car came w/ auto + paddle shiftors. I've always been against them but they work pretty good on the mini, definitely a must if you get the auto tranny as you will need to downshift to pass.
I had no problem passing on the freeway. actually I was having too much fun passing on the freeway.. i found myself doing 90 in the fast lane...
and when I was cruising at 80.. a cop came out of nowhere and started tailgating me.. i slowed to 75 and moved over :eek3: It was time for me to exit anyways
It definitely makes your commute to work more fun~
its cheaper than a hybrid and does 35mpg vs prius's 40mpg
oh and it comes w/ a cool ufo key

One of my roomates in college had one of the first new minis. It was a pretty cool car, fun to drive, suprisingly roomy, adequate power, and handled pretty well. But the interior and center-mount gauges are totally whack -- over-styled to attempt to make up for cheaper materials, in my opinion.
