Who can say this about their jobs?
That their work gives them personal satisfaction.
I use to work in the white collar world as a draftsman at my cousin's civil engineering firm. I didnt really enjoy the actual work, but I more so liked the coworkers and being able to interact with them. There were a lot of Filipinos there (I think Rico's uncle worked there) and they were a cool bunch. So I would do my job and get some "good job" or whatever here and there. And it felt nice to be appreciated...but it doesnt really do it for me. Eventually work just got a little lame and the 30-40 minute commute just started sucking. Thats when I switched around and started the whole tutoring / mentoring stuff.
And since doing that I really feel like I am doing something good. I see it immediately with the people I work with...and I see it 5-6 years down the line because a few of the kids I tutored back when they were in the 6th grade now work for me as high school interns. And here they are driving cars, drinking, turning in college applications and graduating high school. There is no way I can take credit for their success, but there is a little part of me that hopes that our relationship played a small role in shaping how they are now.
Anyway, last night we had a meeting with some of our little kids parents, and the interactions that I saw between the parents and the interns were great. I could have never done that when I was their age. I also got tons of praise for the program. A lot of the parents say their kids attitude towards school and people changed for the better. And I want to credit that to the work that the interns do and the relationships that are built because of the program.
I just felt really good about my job. And it might sound corny, but it kinda tingled on the inside :uhhok:
I hope I dont come off as a conceited prick or something. I are just happy with jobs at the moment.

Did you join the airforce too?
OT: I do enjoy my job, much like you when you were doing civil drafting, I enjoy working with the people, my satisfaction isn't really the same as yours or as rewarding, but I like to be able to go to a job site and be like, shit, I helped design that, or walk up to a 1 million square foot building and say that I helped in designing it...
With that said, I'm doing more volunteer work, basically helping setting up events and such for the community
