Yes.

Any entry level dsrl from Canon or Nikon would be best for it.

Go to a store and hold each camera in your hand, see which one feels better. This is important

Usually their base line camera, but I would take one that is about 2 steps up from the bottom that way you don't "out grow" the camera too quickly. That's where you become more adept at shooting and your camera is behind your capability in what you want to do, and you end up going back and buying a more expensive camera.

yeah and the nikon D40 is another favorite as a starter DSLR. similar price point point and features, but they are different.
