I got the game on PC two weeks ago and I suck. I'm trying to get in the groove of it but I'm not finding my touch. :hs:
So most of the time, I'm some medic hosing Pyros n' stuff

Chris try pyro or soldier or demo, they're more chase and spam than tactical. Spy's have 0 life expectancy but next to snipers they are really efficient at what they do.

I like using the Solider and Scout (esp with the bat), I figure I should try out those classes you mentioned so I can get a good foundation before getting into more technical classes

Pyro is easy enough to use in close quarters, you might want to learn how to sticky/rocket jump as well. Stickies are awesome at destroying sentries.

The new heavy equipment is interesting, the new primary is alright, the sandvich is awesome, haven't hit anyone with the gloves yet.
