Thank god I don't make any purchases in Chicago.
County taxes differ greatly too. I live on the border of "Cook" and "Lake" counties. If I drive 5 minutes one direction, I pay 9%. If I go the other direction, I'm at 6.5%.
There's such a significant difference when purchasing something > $100.

6.25% in UT. Roads look like ass, education is the worst per capita in the country and we somehow have a $200 million state surplus

The city blew though it's entire snow removal fund, along with all salt reserves. Combine that with round-the-clock pot hole repair crews ... the city is down quite a bit.
