MADNESS!!
I got quotes for my windows and they ranged from 10g's to 30 g's.

I think I'm only going to do half of them right now and half next year. I want to still have some money reserves. h:

Yeah windows are a huge item...like ungodly huge.

I would pass on the window replacement unless you have shitty leaky windows and just go room by room so you can do it progressivley. I am lucky and have double pans vinyl windows that were put in when I bought the place...but if I had the wood windows I would probably spend it.

I have the original aluminium frame 1/16" glass windows that were construction grade made in 1987. They're drafty as all hell and although don't leak, they are far from adequate in terms of sound and weather insulation.

Total cost for this round of windows should be about 5k. The next round will finish off the house at about 6k (including converting a window to a slider)

Yeah I would swap em then.

I am probably going to be adding 2 windows and a french door so I need to price that out and see if I can do this myself or need to buy more beer h:

I have to know at least one person who can help me. Trying not to call a contractor until it gets to raising the roof.

Permit required to install the french door? Is it already existing? I know here, on an exterior wall, you have to pull a permit and per code, install an exterior light for the door (easy)

Yeah I haven't checked on the code yet. My guess is I may but I think it only applies here if you are extending the living space but I will check to be sure.
