CAT6 cable
Current use: Speaker wire
Results: Fucking awesome and ease of install running single wire to pairs of speakers.
Recommend: Hell yeah I recommend it all day long, but use speaker cable for the subs (in case you didn't already know).
That is all

Not when you pair them up
Also with your surround and satellite speakers the guage has to be pretty damn small to cause signal degradation. Paired up with two speakers per length of cable you are in the 12g range which is average speaker wire thickness, this just cuts the resistance considerably since the data that flows through it is many times the audio signal

Running about 12-20ft lengths on average.
Not wiring the whole house with speakers just yet so most of this will be for networking the entire house including garage with intarweb. I just got the suggestion from a friend who is an engineer and said he tested the resistance and actually got better results from CAT5/6 than straight wound speaker cable at 12g :dunno: but I like the results so far plus it is in wall shielded for a low price

I was so
right now because for some reason I was thinking of RG-6 cable.
so...how do you do this? just use one pair of wires for each connection? I have a bunch of extra Cat6 cable lying around.

Yeah each color has a positive and negative so pair them up by color and splice two together according to positive and negative cabling and run em. Real simple though I took the time to solder the cables together you can just twist em and should be fine.

Yeah I am running my surround with all 4 wires together so when I upgrade my speakers I don't have to get under the house again to do it.
I should be buttoning up the speaker install today then I have to paint and install the trim, build the dvd rack, install wood flooring in the closet and build the component rack.
Off to the store for me tomorrow to pick up some nice wood to do my building with.

Yeah I did in fact the Roman tub idea is going forward as of right now, but I probably have a year or so before I am working on the bathrooms that extensivley. I know the bathroom will probably be before the kitchen so I will be more comfortable with tile work at that point.
Lots planned and I am learning tons every day I work on this place, it's kind of addicting really
