where i've been for the past two weeks doing absolutely nothing. i showed up on feb 5 like i was supposed too, along with about 400 other new marines to check into the school of infantry. well with my shitty luck i was on one of the last buses from the airport and the company that was picking up for training was already full. so i got held back in reception to wait for the next company to pick up which should be thursday. :run:

until then during the day we get split up into working parties to go around to different parts of this area of the base and do whatever the hell they tell us to. some guys spend the day cutting grass or picking up trash. so far i've been lucky and gotten some laidback jobs like testing radio's and sorting gear.

we do get nights and weekends off and guys have dvd players and laptops in the squadbay though so it's not all bad. they let us off base for the day so me and some buddies will probably hit up oceanside or daygo or even LA tomorrow or next week. so i need some recommendations on what there is to do out in town. please im going out of my mind around here with nothing to do. :crazyr:

I got lucky, I made it early, and instead of going to a working party for the 2 days I went to town before check in, got a hotel and just enjoyed myself for a bit. Got there a few hours before check in and went straight to my company

 

Go grab the keys to the HMMWV (Hummer) and walk around Oceanside in you BDU's. j/k
