18 shot, gunman dead.
(CNN) -- At least two people were shot and several injured shortly before 4 p.m. CT at Northern Illinois University outside Chicago, CNN affiliates are reporting.
The gunman who opened fire in Cole Hall, a lecture building, is dead, according to DeKalb police, the Chicago Sun-Times is reporting.
According to the Chicago Tribune, the DeKalb County coroner's office said no fatalities had been immediately reported.

Cole Hall is where mass lectures are held. They're typically for undergrads ... maybe in a sophomore standing. These lecture rooms can hold up to 300 to 400 people each, and there's 2 of them in there.
Cole Hall is also adjacent to the center of campus where the central student bus hub is. : \

A sophomore told WBBM radio that he was sitting in geology class in Cole Hall when a young white male took out a 12-gauge shotgun and started shooting.
