here is a related question: If I wanted to dual-boot, could I make a partition with data files (music, videos, pics) that both OSs could access?

im thinkin' about doing a dual boot on the laptop. right now it runs vista ultimate...which is prefectly fine except for some bugs but i want to test ubuntu.

i dont know how to setup a dual system either

Love it. I'm not going back to Windows as a primary OS for a long time, if ever.

Yes. Just make it NTFS. Windows cannot read ext3, Linux's format. If you have stuff not needed on both, do it as ext3. It reads and writes better for Linux, and you never have to defragment.

I tried it, I like my thinkpad power management and other drivers too much h:
