My laptop has a nice powerful and quiet fan so does not need such nonsense. h:

my xps has a nice powerful and quite fan as well, but it does tend to get hot sometimes when i run it for a long time while editing pictures and have a lot of apps open at one time.

my 4 year old IBM can hit 70C under load.... but the shell is metallic, so it disperses heat pretty well.

clean the dust out... or prop the rear an inch.... it'll help

yup.

It depends on where the vents on your laptop are located. His HP has them on the bottom... my IBM has its vents on the side... so colling pads wouldnt be as effective.

I have the Targus Chillhub. Works great and gives me a couple of extra usb ports.
