yeah tix were 1250 ea. for the round trip, Flight was 15hrs to Jo-burg direct from DC and 18 back with a quick stop in Dakar. Aside from the car hire everything there was really cheap. Spent easily under a grand for all our food and accommodation. you could get an excellent fillet at a decent restaurant for like 70 rand which is like 10 bucks. Afrikaners like their meat so you could get red meat just about everywhere. A good bed and breakfast would be 150 rand. Although I'm sure the more tourist areas like Capetown are more.
I took out someone's chicken with the yaris, does that count?
Surprising, I hardly saw any hondas and acuras. probably half the cars on the road were either a VW Citi (which is like Golf II but they still make them new.) or a toyota Tazz.
There are also a ton of "taxis" there, these little toyota Siyaya vans that are smaller than a full-size but have like 5 rows of seats and carry about 30 people around. They all have really random names painted on them and have 15s blasting either techno or african music.
we kept a runnig tally of all the taxi names we saw, I'll have to find it. this was by far the best though:
