Default Headlight adjustment???

My mom just got a 2001 Crv and when I was driving it around tonight I noticed that the drivers side headlight was pointing to the ground, after further inspection I notice d that it was a new headlight. Is there something in the manual or something online that I can go off of to adjust the headlights?

There are 2 knobs near the headlight ... 1 controls the vertical, the other the horizontal. Run the car, feel around the headlight housing. If you find something, give it a try and see if the output moves.

When aiming, keep the car parked about 8 to 10 feet away and on a level surface. Match the bad light to the good one.

I don't know if you can call the other one good. It's not like the drivers side but it seems like it points to far down the road but that could be because the other is pointing to the ground. Do I just use one of the knobs or both? Would the dealer charge anything for adjusting it?

The only reason I asked is that I remember when I had a HID kit in my car and I made a thread about adjusting it everyone told me not to adjust them horizontally. Do you have any idea how much they will charge?

headlight adjustment isn't a science. if you misalign, it's not going to be the end of the world. The dealer will guess also.

Take a good car to a wall and chalk the centerline of the beams.

Take the bad car and match the headlights to the other car's measurements.

pull up to wall or garage door

adjust headlights to what feels appropriate height

test drive

if not right, readjust and retest

My god people are you crazy??

There are trained technicians who go to school for 2-4 years in order to be able to properly adjust headlights. Take it to one of them and make sure it is done properly because headlight failure is not something you want to mess around with or take chances with in the least. Could you imagine what might happen if your beams were 2 inches to the left or 3 inches high? catastrophic failure :eek5r:
