Default saturday mishap...

so i went up to snoqualmie mountain on saturday, basically for the whole day. i went with a couple friends of mine and we hit up back country on alpental and it was pretty fun. was kinda hard getting back into it as it was my first time in 2 years. so we're all out for the whole day and we try to get a lodge because we were planning to go boarding the next day as well. we went to the three closest lodges and every one of them were booked so we decided to sleep in the car in an overnight parking lot.

as we're driving to the lot i get a call from my dad and he tells me to come home because my mom's sick and he needs help with some work early the next morning. i tell him that my friend's don't really wanna drive back home (it's around an hour and a half drive) so my dad says he'll come up to pick me up. basically it started snowing around 11am that day and didn't stop even until we were trying to sleep at 11pm. our family doesn't own any 4 wheel drive or all wheel drive car, so i was kinda worried that he wouldn't make it up to the mountains. he ended up getting chains on my mom's passat and drove up to get me.

we're driving back home I-90 westbound and we just drove 14 miles away, and it's still snowing along the freeway. my dad's just talking to me telling me how well the chains are working. just then the car goes over a patch of ice and for some strange reason my dad hits the brakes and the car started spinning. the road had 3 lanes for each direction, but the snow covered the lines and there was basically one line that the cars drove on. the sides of the freeway were pretty much drop offs and didn't have any railing. as the car slid i looked out and saw we were heading to the other side of the freeway and we weren't slowing down at all. i could just imagine in my head the car falling off and just exploding. as we were sliding a bunch of snow fluffed up and covered all the windows and the windshield and i couldn't see anything outside. a couple seconds later i feel the car hit something and we stop.

end up that we were extremely lucky and hit a guardrail. the car ended up staying on the same side of the freeway and hit the rail that divided the two ways. the car was facing the wrong direction and the rear right side was pretty banged up. weird thing is the guardrail only started no more than 5 feet from where the car hit, so if we slid less then something worse could have happened to me. some very kind passerby's were nice enough to tow the car out of the snow we were stuck in and we were able to go home a couple hours later.

cliff: a lot of snow on roads. car slipped and spun on freeway and hit a guardrail. i didn't die.

Move down here to the dirty south, we average maybe 3 inches of snow per year. We don't have snow drifts or whiteouts.

Glad you're aight.

once i was driving and it was the middle of the summer, nice sunny, dry road day. looked into my back seat to look at an amp, look up, i'm swervin, swerve back, swerve again, 180 off the road and onto the grass. put it in park, started it up again, pulled back onto the highway and kept going

Yeah I won't drive in the snow with out all or four wheel drive. Glad to hear everyone is safe. Sucks that the car got damaged. Does insurance pay for that?
