Default *sigh* cheap people

So my neighbor who is doing his best to keep afloat got a $100 Escort wagon that is actually in really good shape. I run through it and about the only thing really wrong with it was the alternator which he replaced and the axles need changed because they are clicking at the CV.

So I tell him to go buy a pair of axles and we will swap them out this weekend (he has no mechanical knowledg so I hook him up a little), simple enough and cheap compared to being stuck on the side of the road with a busted axle right? Knowing money is a constant issue with him since he is the only one working and has a wife and two kids I like to help him if I can, but I aint doing it all for him either. So he sold off his Jeep for $500 which means he has some extra cash to pay $150 for the axles.

He came over a bit ago to tell me he decided he wasn't going to swap the axles after all because...now get this...he needs to buy a $400 video card and some more RAM WTF?!?!

So I proceed to tell him that if his axle breaks he or his wife and kids are stuck with no power to get anywhere and it's gonna suck calling a tow truck because I don't fix stupid or pick up cars on my trailer that could have prevented the problem. He looks at me kind of shocked as though he expected me to help him if it did get stranded

I guess now I should start taking bets on how long the axles will last before he calls me stuck on the road

Glad to see his priorities are straight.
