If the company operates (office, distribution center, store) in the state you live in, then you get taxed no matter purchasing method.

Well if he's lucky to not live in the same state, then he could buy it on bb.com and use the gift certificate, coupon, AND have no sales tax :dunno:

edit: Oh wait, I misread what you said.

Oregon doesn't have sales tax at all so it's pretty unfamiliar territory.

BB.com does have sales tax in CA.

I have a new system.

Amazon.com has recommendations for you on the "gold box" and below are recommendations at a percentage off. The PS3 when it comes up (already have my system set-up to force it onto the page) you get 5% so it would be $475-$100 so $375 OOP, then $150GC so $225 net for an 80GB

AND, if the PS3 drops in price (rumor going around of a drop end of January) you have 30 days to price match through Amazon.com

How does Sony know that the purchase is for a PS3?

Does Jellyfish count?
http://www.jellyfish.com/smacktv/archive/51654

$407 for an 80gb, shipped w. no tax.

$407 - $100 - $150 = $157 net.

You have to buy from an authorized retailer (listed on their site). I would imagine that the charge will come up from a retailer and then they can research what it is you bought.
