im trying to put a tv wall mount in my basement but realized its cement/cinder blocks behind the walls. how should i go about doing this? do i need to buy a special drill that will go through cement/cinder or will my regular drill work if i just swap out the bit to a cement grade bit? thanks.

masonry bit ngga

if its a cordless drill it might get worked trying to do it but just go slow ... 12v might not handle, 14.4v should be ok.

You will need a hammer drill and cement anchor bolts. other than that it should be the same. You will have to deal with cable management with an external conduit. No way to run it through the wall.

hammer drill isnt a need, its def easier but you can def do with a masonry bit and a good powered drill. cinder blocks arent that difficult to go through as compared to solid cement.

That will work fine. Don't use straight bolts. Make sure there is an expansion sleeve with it. Better to be over anchored with your TV than under anchored.

I love drilling/anchoring into masonry work. It so so much fun. Especially with a hammer drill!

But yeah, masonry bit with masonry anchors and you are GOLDEN! You can get the metal expansion sleeves to put some lag screws into.
