Default Book publishing question....

Ok I know this is out of the ordinary but lets say I decided to write a book (fictional).....how would I go about getting it published? Is it something difficult to do?

Being serious.

i wouldnt say its difficult as long as you have a solid idea that has potential for sales. there are tons of publishers out there nowadays

the hard part i think would be coming up with a book that is profitable and people actually buy

Yea I hear ya.....although i'm not much of a reader, i've got a great imagination (love to draw so I guess that's where it comes from). Was just wondering whether or not it was worth putting my ideas on paper and in turn trying to make some profit out of it.

I heard its relatively simple to publish. Its on your dime so why not? Just dont call it "23" or you're insane.

Do have an idea of starting costs? Let's say I have a great idea and someone wants to publish it. From the time the story is finished to being on shelves, how much you think it'll cost.
